Downloading the ACL repair tool
- Click the file link to download the file from the Web page.
- When prompted, select a drive and directory in which to save the downloaded file.
Extracting the ACL repair tool
- Click Start, select Find or Search, then click Files and folders.
- Type ffeaclus.exe in the search field, then click Find Now. This will locate the file you just downloaded.
- Double-click the ffeaclus.exe icon.
- Click Next. Read the license agreement.
- Click I accept the terms in the license agreement.
- Click Next.
- Ensure that "Save files in folder" is set to C:\IBMTOOLS\FFEACL.
- Click Next.
- Click Finish.
NOTE: Each Client Security user will need to perform the below steps for each machine.
Using the IBM Access Control List repair tool
- Click Start, then click Run.
- Type C:\IBMTOOLS\FFEACL\ffeacl.exe, then click OK. A dialog box will appear. The current user will be listed in the lower left corner. Only folders protected by this user will be processed.
- Click Start Utility. The display will show the number of folders being processed. When complete, a short summary will be displayed.
NOTE: You can click Detailed Summary to open a detailed summary report text file in the system default text editor. This file (fferpt.txt) is located in the install directory of IBM Client Security Software (typically C:\Program Files\IBM\Security).
- Click Finish.
Steps to migrate to FFE 2.01
- Download the executable file (ffeacl.exe) to your hard disk drive. If you cannot access the Web site to download the tool to your computer or cannot use another computer to access the Web site and tool, call the IBM Support Center and reference document ID MIGR-53416 for further assistance. An IBM service representative will guide you through a manual recovery of your system.
- Log into the system and authenticate for the FFE service if prompted.
- Run the IBM Access Control List repair tool.
- Upgrade to the latest version of CSS, if necessary.
- Upgrade to FFE 2.01 or higher.
Steps to uninstall FFE
- Download the executable file (ffeacl.exe) to your hard disk drive. If you cannot access the Web site to download the tool to your computer or cannot use another computer to access the Web site and tool, call the IBM Support Center and reference document ID MIGR-53416 for further assistance. An IBM service representative will guide you through a manual recovery of your system.
- Log into the system and authenticate for the FFE service if prompted.
- Run the IBM Access Control List repair tool.
- Unprotect any files or folders currently protected by FFE.
- Uninstall FFE.
